Tate (Modern) is looking for young artists and designers to create a range of limited edition 'Pop' inspired T-shirt designs.

Graffiti

When you're rejected
Nothing of you is expected
You're hanging around
Painting the Town
With Graffiti
Expressing yourself
Deploring the wealth
Which surrounds you
Inner Cities can be so boring
And whilst Suburbia its snoring
You creep in the night
With colours so bright
They thrill you
Making your claim
Capitalisms' to blame
For our downfall
And when the world has awoken
They'll see the shadows have spoken
As quick as a blink
They'll see the shadows have spoken
As quick as a blink
They'll stop and they'll think
Is this freedom?

CHRISTOPHER LEE SAUVÉ

“I break down a couple of times a week, at least. It gets overwhelming.
Sometimes I think that I can’t take this anymore. I just want to live a normal life.” – Whitney Port

New York-based artist and recent fashion impresario CHRISTOPHER LEE SAUVÉ is a mummy's boy. Whether he’s drawing inspiration from punk nuevo Brooklyn street kids, or his idol ANDY WARHOL, this Canadian-born prodigy always looks back to his mother for inspiration. “When I was a child, she would create her own over-sized, silk-screened, bold-graphic t-shirts,” recalls the artist from his West Village studio, “she would cut and rip the neck and wear them as elegant evening dresses. It was revolutionary.”(see pop-store.com for CLS's tees)

Pop goes the T-shirt

A T-shirt (or tee shirt) is a shirt which is pulled on over the head to cover most of a person's torso. A T-shirt is usually buttonless, collarless, and pocketless, with a round neck and short sleeves. The sleeves of the T-shirt extend at least slightly over the shoulder but not completely over the elbow (in short-sleeve version). A shirt that is either longer or shorter than this ceases to be a T-shirt. T-shirts are typically made of cotton or polyester fibers (or a mix of the two), knitted together in a jersey stitch that gives a T-shirt its distinctive soft texture. T-shirts can be decorated with text and/or pictures, and are sometimes used to advertise (see human billboard).

I HEART TATTY

Earlier this year the deliciously alternative accesories label 'Tatty Devine' were asked to produce some very special gold letters for man of the moment, photographer Rankin. The letters have been put together to conceive this prodigous outfit to feature on this giant poster, shot by Rankin, which will be plastered around the London Underground! It’s all part of Elle magazine’s celebration of 25 years of London Fashion. Other designers and artists include Mulberry and Christopher Bailey, Basso and Brooke and Rob Ryan. Look out for it, Londoners!
